Commit to supporting your First Responders

SOHF Logo Final - Larger.png

Through donations and fundraising, the Foundation operates in an Internal Revenue Service-exempt status for charitable purposes. It is a corporation as defined in Section 102(a)(5) of the Not-for-Profit Corporation Law. Please note that contributions are exempt from both federal and NYS tax.

The Foundation recognizes that the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office (and other first-responder agencies), with most of its annual budget going to support personnel costs, has very little flexibility to seed new programs and encourage innovation outside of a heavily regulated environment. The role of the Foundation is not to displace funding for first-responder services, nor to reduce in any way the responsibility of the County of Tompkins (or other applicable municipalities) to commit the necessary funding for first-responder services for our community.

The Foundation utilizes the generous contributions of community members and funding partners to enhance first-responder wellness.
